Installing a steering rack affects vehicle safety and should be done by a qualified mechanic. Hydraulic versions require the system to be flushed, refilled and bled. Electric versions may need calibration with a diagnostic tool. Inspect the tie rod ends, rack boots and steering column coupling during the job, and replace anything worn so the new rack is not affected by play elsewhere in the system. Finish with a full wheel alignment and a road test to confirm the steering centres correctly.
