Overview
A right-hand bank valve cover for the Gen V 6.2L V8, offered for the L86 and L87 applications in the 2014-2024 model window. Supplied as a replacement valve cover (right-hand bank) for the GM L87 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 and the closely related Gen V 6.2L applications noted below. This listing covers the component described here only; hardware such as bolts, seals and gaskets is included only where the specification list says so.
Function
The valve cover closes the top of the cylinder head, holding oil around the valvetrain and sealing the upper engine against oil mist, dust and moisture. On a Gen V V8 the cover also carries the oil filler and breather provisions and sits over the ignition and injection hardware, so a cracked, warped or badly sealed cover commonly shows up as oil seepage down the head, a hot-oil smell after a drive, or an unmetered air leak that disturbs fuel trims.

OEM reference: Not stated in listing. Fitment status recorded at the time of listing: supplier-declared (l87 named) - oem number not published.
Installation
Cleanliness decides the outcome. The head rail and bolt threads should be clean and dry, the gasket seated without stretching or twisting, and the fasteners run down evenly in sequence to the specified torque. Reusing a hardened gasket, or over-tightening one corner to stop a weep, usually produces a repeat leak.
Fitment notice
Compatibility is stated for the GM L87 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 on the strength of the supplier listing and, where an OEM number is published, a parts-catalogue cross-check. GM built the 6.2L V8 in several forms, and L86, LT1, LT2 and LT4 components are not automatically interchangeable with L87 parts. Before ordering, confirm the engine RPO code and the original part number against the vehicle, and treat this listing as a guide rather than a substitute for that check. Specialist engine repairs should be carried out by a qualified technician.
